NEW CASTLE – Today the Delaware State Education Association (DSEA) announced that they were endorsing New Castle County Executive Chris Coons in the race for U.S. Senate. The DSEA represents more than 11,000 teachers, specialists and support personnel. Since 1919, the DSEA has advocated for the “rights and interests of its members and outstanding public education for all students.”
“It is an honor to be recognized by the largest education association in Delaware as the person best suited to be their advocate in the U.S. Senate,” said Chris. “This endorsement is another illustration of the support I have seen across the state during this campaign. The DSEA and all Delawareans want someone to bring fresh leadership, innovative ideas, and a new way of doing business to Washington.”
“Chris Coons has experience dealing with the tough decisions around budget cuts and he has proven that fiscal constraint can be laced with contemporary management and compassion,” said DSEA President Diane Donahue. “We need someone that we do not have to move to our position because Chris Coons is already there walking the road beside us.”
The DSEA has endorsed Congressman Mike Castle (R-Del.) many times during his political career. However this year, the DSEA has joined a diverse group of organizations, including the Council for a Livable World and Veterans Alliance for Security and Democracy, to recognize Chris as their candidate in the race for U.S. Senate.
