Financial Reform

Chris believes that a healthy financial system is integral to a functioning economy, but the years of deregulation and a lack of oversight created a dysfunctional system that directly contributed to our economic collapse. The federal government needs to encourage Wall Street to help Main Street businesses grow and expand, and value the kinds of oversight and enforcement that will ensure that markets are profitable and operating above board.
Chris applauds Congress for passing the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, a landmark effort to restore regulatory balance to Wall Street and our financial markets overall. Chris will work hard once in the Senate to make sure that Congress ensures proper oversight and encourages responsibility while still preserving the ingenuity and flexibility of the American financial system.
